Wood Chairs
Increasingly, many companies in the furniture industry are relying on inexpensive foreign products and labor-saving shortcuts. Unfortunately, this leads to flimsy construction that will require customers to replace furniture more often.

Grand Rapids Chair Company is different. We believe in American-made products. We engineer, assemble and customize each product within our own factory. Our engineering and manufacturing staff has over 100 years’ of combined experience in designing, engineering and manufacturing commercial furniture. We take pride in our craftsmanship and in manufacturing the highest quality product. Our state-of-the-art construction techniques ensure that each chair, barstool and table will be a good long-term investment for its customer.

Finishing Details
While others import already-finished wood, we sand and stain every square inch of wood ourselves – by hand!

All of our wood stains contain a penetrating, alcohol-based dye that allows a wider range of hues while maximizing color consistency.

Our catalyzed two-component topcoat finish chemicals assure color quality and finish consistency. The topcoat system is resistant to UV light and it significantly enhances the durability of your furniture.

Our epoxy/poly finish assures quality and consistency of color while extending the durability of your furniture.

NEW Distressed Winright Collection
! All wood chairs are now available with a light distressed or heavy distressed finish. The Winright Collection features handmade textural details accentuated by a matte finish.

Construction Details
Chair frames are manufactured of European beech, a grade “A” hardwood that is stronger than oak or maple in most every respect. It also offers superior color clarity. HR (High Resilience) foam is considered the Cadillac of cushioning. We use it in all our upholstered seating for an unbeatable combination of comfort, support and durability.

All chairs meet or exceed BIFMA/ANSI strength standards.

Mortise-and-tenon construction has been the hallmark of fine woodworking for centuries. While others secure their joints with prone-to-failure metal brackets, we rely on the time-tested method for maximum joint strength.

Back legs are glued, screwed and “blind bolted” together with hardened nuts and bolts. The connection is camouflaged with a grain plug that matches the color and finish of the surrounding wood.

Corner blocks are glued, screwed and lag screw bolted at a mitred angle for exceptional strength and longevity.

Custom Details
We can produce almost any color imaginable, and are happy to custom-match your order.

Personalize your chairs with a company logo or graphic design. We use lasers to cut or engrave impeccably detailed images into chair backs.
