Allison is the chair you design. Just pick up your pencil and sketch your idea for a chair back, then fax it to Grand Rapids Chair. We’ll prototype it, photograph it, email the photo to you for approval, and put your chair into production.
It’s that easy. It’s that fast. And it doesn’t even cost much more than our standard chair selections – thanks to patent-pending design and mechanical processes exclusive to Grand Rapids Chair.
Explore your creativity.
We can incorporate most any shape, inlay, cutout, pattern and/or upholstery treatment into an Allison back, so get as creative as you wish. Incorporate a company logo. Mimic the shape of a product. Repeat a building motif. Just keep your design within the dimensions we’ve engineered for maximum strength and durability: 17.5" high, 12.5" wide at the base, 16.53" wide at the top.

It’s not just the back that distinguishes Allison. The chair’s dramatic “spyder legs” also set it apart from the rest, making Allison an ideal choice for contemporary interiors – restaurants and nightclubs, hotels and lounges, even progressive corporate environments. Wherever you put it, you can stack Allison up to seven high, depending on your back design. You can also stack it up against the competition: legs are made of high-strength carbon steel – the strongest in the industry – to ensure long-lasting durability. Special “invisi-glides” preserve the aesthetic appeal of the legs all the way to the floor. They’re barely perceptible, yet they’re made of a super-slip nylon compound that is more stable, wear resistant and floor protective than conventional glides.
Higher standards, broader choices.
Like all our chairs, Allison meets or exceeds BIFMA standards for quality and performance. Mostly exceeds. For instance: unlike most of our competitors, we use identically thick layers of solid hardwood (European beech) throughout our chair shells. This makes seats and backs look and feel more substantial, and it eases the repair of scratches and gouges.
Allison chairs are available with a wide variety of standard finishes and fabrics as well as custom-matched colors and C.O.M selections. We also offer three unique “hydrographic” finishes that simulate the look of carbon fiber, diamond plate or burlwood.
